Evaluations

In the course of administering the NYIPT Training Program, all aspects of the program are evaluated to continue providing high quality training, and to ensure that candidates fulfill their commitments to satisfy all requirements. This includes Program Faculty, Supervisor and Candidate Evaluations.

A. Curriculum/Course Work:

At the end of each course and workshop, candidates are evaluated by faculty on the Candidate Seminar Evaluation by Faculty form.  In addition, faculty who teach workshops evaluate all classes on the Class Evaluation by Seminar/Workshop Leader form.  All faculty are evaluated anonymously by students on the Evaluation of Workshop/Seminar by Candidate form.  Class Reps. Collect all evaluations and send them to the evaluation committee.

B. Clinic/Field Work:

Candidates are required to complete a Cumulative Monthly Kept Sessions form, to track the number of completed clinical hours.  In addition, each year, the professional clinical work of all candidates is evaluated by their Clinic Liaison (usually a Director or Advisor on site at clinical placements) on the Candidate Clinic Performance Evaluation form.

C. Supervision:

Supervision is evaluated informally at the mid-year mark, and in a formal, written procedure at the end of each academic year. All supervisors are evaluated by candidates and candidates are evaluated by their supervisors annually via the Supervisor’s Evaluation of Candidate form and Supervisor Evaluation by Candidate form.

D. Personal Therapy:

During the application process, potential candidates are responsible for completing the Personal Psychotherapy Release form, on which permission is released for NYIPT to contact their therapist to evaluate the qualifications of the therapist. The therapist is asked to explain experiential background and training.  In addition, each year both candidates and therapists complete the Annual Personal Therapy Update form to verify the number of hours a candidate has been seen in treatment. Finally, all information as to Supervision, Clinical Placement and Personal Therapy are tracked by the Administration in the Fall and Spring of each year using the Candidate Information Update form.
