Tuition and Finances

The tuition for the NYIPT Program is correlated with required clinical hours, as follows:

  Clinical Requirements  Tuition
Year 1   120 Kept therapy sessions   $1,800
Year 2  180 Kept therapy sessions  $2,700
Year 3 200 Kept therapy sessions    $3,000

Explanation of the reciprocity of clinical work and tuition pay rate:
The requirement of the program is to see five child patients each week with one alternating parent collateral (for a total of 6 patient hours/week); however, in practice, we know that this is difficult to achieve, especially in the first year of the program, due to difficulties in beginning at agencies and cancellations while in the process of the therapy.  For this reason fewer “kept therapy sessions” are required in the first year (see above). As the candidate becomes more proficient as a therapist, our experience has shown that there are fewer cancelled sessions each week, and thus more “kept therapy sessions” are required.

Tuition payments cover all fees for courses, workshops and supervision and evaluations. Candidates pay separately for their personal therapy, transportation, books and other class reading, and toys.

Candidates submit the Annual Financial Worksheet at the beginning of each year to confirm the agreed-upon commitment for each year.  Candidates may elect to pay tuition on a monthly basis, quarterly, or biannually.  However regardless of payment schedule, one-half of the total tuition tuition is due by January 30, and the full tuition balance is due by June 30. If a candidate falls in arrears, he/she will not be permitted to attend classes until the balance is brought up-to-date. If a candidate withdraws during the year, tuition owed will be prorated, however, no refunds will be given.

In order to keep track of clinical hours and tuition, candidates complete a Cumulative Monthly Kept Sessions Form.
