NYIPT presents a 2 hour Live Virtual Continuing Education Course for Clinicians Social Workers (LMSW, LCSW) receive 2 CEU's     Sunday October 22, 2023 10am-12pm   As child therapists we usually enjoy the “play part” of play therapy while we often struggle with the more challenging part of working with the parents.   Although parents want to see their children get well, they may be reluctant to engage in the treatment, and can be defensive about their own problems. They don’t always understand the benefits of play therapy and sometimes want us to be more directive or use a different approach.    We’ve all had cases in which we've felt frustrated with parents who seem to be working against the interests of the child.    Dr. Jill Bellinson will discuss the challenges of working with parents, including case examples and participant experiences, and suggest ways to help them join the therapeutic alliance. Dr. Jill Bellinson JILL BELLINSON, Ph.D. has a Certificate in Psychoanalysis from William Alanson White Institute. She is on the faculty of the Metropolitan Institute for Training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Child and Adolescent Program; William Alanson White Institute; Adelphi University, Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis, Trauma Program. She is a Supervisor at the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Programs of CUNY and Yeshiva University. She is a Psychological Consultant at New Alternatives for Children.
