NYIPT presents a 2 hour Live Virtual Continuing Education Course for Clinicians Social Workers (LMSW, LCSW) receive 2 CEU's   with Carl Bagnini, LCSW, BCD   Sunday May 19, 2024 10am-12pm   In actual clinical practice most psychoanalytic treatments do not end smoothly or by mutual consent of the patient and therapist.  We will look at differences between the "ideal" of a planned termination and other often strange and unexpected variables that determine the end of treatment. We will look at the effects on the therapist of unplanned or premature stoppage, including how countertransference can be managed and discussed while a patient is still attending; and in terms of how one's training, and theoretical orientation and ambition play their parts in the learning and practice of psychotherapy.   Participants are encouraged to share brief vignettes of cases. Carl Bagnini, LCSW, BCD CARL BAGNINI, LCSW, BCD  holds certificates from the Ackerman Institute for the Family, and The Long Island Institute for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy.  He is a Clinical Faculty member at the Adelphi University Derner Postgraduate Programs in Psychoanalysis, Supervision and Couple Therapy; teaches and supervises faculty at The Training Institute for Mental Health Couple Training Certificate Program; and, other institutes. He has presented at US and international psychoanalytic conferences, and has written and/or co-authored over 30 book chapters and journal publications. Carl’s book, Keeping Couples in Treatment: Working from Surface to Depth, was published in 2012.
